I had a total knee replacement 6 weeks ago at the Nuffield Health Hospital in Cambridge. The care I received was second to none. Mr Carrothers explained what the surgery would entail and pointed out the risks. He put my mind at rest immediately and I had no doubt at all to go ahead with the surgery. After 4 years of pain I am looking forward to being totally pain free and enjoying life to the full once again.

I totally recommend hip replacement surgery with Mr Carrothers. I had spent 40 years running five times a week but after reducing the frequency eventually stopped in January . I played tennis every week all year, this had to stop in April as pain was too severe. I continued with gardening but was limited in what I could do and it hurt. I went to see Mr Carrothers in June in complete agony, on painkillers day and night and with broken sleep night after night. I am now 6 weeks post op and cannot believe the difference it has made to my quality of life. I had robotic surgery and cannot recommend it highly enough. For me the, the pain disappeared immediately after the operation, obviously there was some site pain but that was treated with appropriate pain relief. The first couple of days it was uncomfortable to stand, but the physio had me out of bed and going up and down stairs within 48 hours. Mr Carrothers came to see me on all three nights during my hospital stay to see how I was doing which was very reassuring. I was able to come home and navigate our stair case immediately, and sleep is now wonderful - I now have unbroken nights sleep - which is bliss. I feel years younger and would highly recommend to anyone with chronic hip pain. A physiotherapist had said to me ‘better to go early with a new hip and later with a knee’. I feel I have got my life back and am hoping to return to all my physical activities in the next 3-4 months.

Mr Carrothers identified my problem, briefed me about it, arranged a quick operation and performed the operation with the minimum of after effects. His team were magnificent and I would unhesitatingly recommend him and his team to anybody. I feel very fortunate to have met such a competent surgeon and luck to live within his sphere of influence. Very many thanks for fixing me up. There has been no after effects and I now move without pain.

Mr Corrothers and his team did my initial surgery, following an RTC in 2016, where I had substantial trauma to my four limbs. Since this time the Addenbrookes team under Mr Corrothers have given me fantastic support. Just about to undergo surgery over two phases for a left knee replacement, and couldn't be more trusting and positive with the support of this NHS specialist and his team.
